My result is below my plan speed. What should I do?

Measure again over a cable first: Wi-Fi, especially on 2.4 GHz or through a wall, can read far below your plan. If it is still low over a cable, run your provider's own test and keep the result; a sustained shortfall is grounds for opening a fault report with most providers.

How accurate is this test?

Download is measured over a three-second window across twelve parallel connections, and the first 4 MB is discarded so the connection's ramp-up does not count. Upload uses the same twelve connections but sends two different sizes and takes the difference, which cancels fixed costs such as round-trip time. Download comes from the server closest to you; upload always travels to our own server in Germany.

What do ping and jitter mean?

Ping is the round-trip time for data; a low figure matters for gaming and video calls. Jitter is how much that time varies. A low ping with high jitter can still stutter on a video call, and the cause is usually other devices on your own network rather than the line itself.

How much data does the test use?

The download test scales with your speed: in a three-second window that is roughly 4 MB at 10 Mbps and roughly 37 MB at 100 Mbps. The upload test is a few megabytes at most. Keep this in mind if you are measuring over mobile data.
